We were suppose to drive to the coast today and view the eclipse, but Oregon decided to bring clouds and rain. I do not want to drive all the way to Redding, California for an eclipse so I will wait for the next astronomical event, which it turns out happens on a monthly basis around here. I just need to set up a reminder.

On the plus side, my roses are blooming. I snapped a photo of the climbing rose with my phone the other day.  The purple roses have more blooms but it is raining and I do not want to ruin my camera (already had it replaced once).

  • Taking a small break from schoolwork…

These photos are funny to me. What are we looking at? Who knows….

We just look where Flicka looks and see nothing but she swears she heard something.

Behind me and to my right you can see roses! I so proud of them. I have had some trouble so any success is wonderful (especially since I only know Texas weather).

She knows how cute she is.

She has a ritual of greeting Kenny when he gets home. So cute!

    ….

    The flowers are blooming!

Our small azalea tree/bush is blooming. I made sure to have a mixed azalea because that is what I had back home at my parent’s house. ^_^ The lavender is all over the place, as you can see…. love it!

    IMG_0092IMG_0085

One purple (they are technically called “blue girl”) rose bush is blooming away! Our strawberry groundcover will need some pruning soon…. you can see Flicka in the background, so helpful! ^_^

    IMG_0088IMG_0099

You can see in the left photo in the far left is the honeysuckle followed by two blue girl rose bushes and some unknown bush that blocks the view of the other three roses. I have a close up of what they look like, buds! You can see how helpful Flicka is…

    IMG_0098IMG_0124

Our climbing rose bush is not a blue girl but a red-copper hybrid and it has lots of buds ready to burst open. Exciting! I will need to gently guide the bush to the trellis soon or the bush will climb all over the rocks instead of the wall….. then again…. mmmmm…

I should get started on my school work. This semester is almost over and there is still a lot to do.

Please excuse the sickly appearance, still recovering from the migraine.

    first bloom

This is our first bloom of the year. I am excited to see how the rest do, there are a lot of buds. I have been searching for aphids, leaf-cutters, etc and trying to keep the roses happy.

I had a minor set back with my school work but I am going to try and put in double time these next two days.

I had a doozy of a migraine but Arthur was wonderful. He didn’t hover, kept quiet, made me drink liquids, and all around was very efficient. I even had strange dreams that I was drinking Gatorade, only to wake up and find Gatorade in my hands and Arthur asking me to drink some more.

I hadn’t had a bad migraine like that since November when I was in Houston. I am still weak but the worst is over. ^_^

I am off to start on school work!

I have been trying to play catch up with school. I don’t think I am doing that great.

Other than that I have been out of the house only for errands and one visit to the Library which has a lovely park with geese and Mallard Ducks! We even saw some birds but rarely have a chance to snap a photo.

Flicka seems happy, she is still cute.

My roses are doing well. There are small buds on each of them. The left photo is hard to tell but there are a few roses in that photo on the left side of the left photo. ^_^ They are smaller than that large bush that seems to steal attention. The ground cover on the right of the walkway is a strawberry hybrid that doesn’t produce strawberries but does flower and have the same leaves. I love strawberries and the way the plant looks but didn’t want the animals all over the house like an Alfred Hitchcock movie (they also love the plant).

In the right photo you can see a small azalea hiding behind the tree, lavender by the door, roses everywhere, honeysuckle by the pole, petunia hanging,  and different types of hanging green stuff I don’t remember the name…

    IMG_0081IMG_0082

The house looks homier now that there are plants. The back yard is another matter. I will worry about that another time. ^_^

I apologize beforehand for the bad grammar.

I love Bluetooth. I didn’t use to use it as much as I do now. I recently acquired some devices that allow me to connect to my phone, computer, and a microphone should I so desire.

    Good Stuff.

    That is all.

Since I have arrived in Houston I have been GO GO GO. Such hustle stresses me out and reminds me of my previous job where there was no downtime. Some would say I have grown weak but the whole reason for my leaving the job was for my health so you can imagine how I feel about that comment.

On the bright side, I have taken some nice photos already. I haven’t been able to relax yet, I have caught my hands shaking a few times from the stress. I think I need to go find a café and sit for a few hours and people watch.

The plane trip out of Oregon was pretty.

    IMG_0005IMG_0006

The next few states were more rocky

    IMG_0011IMG_0014

    …and brown…

    IMG_0028IMG_0029

…and in need of some water… the first photo there has a zig-zag line running through it. That is a dried up river or water the color of mud.

    IMG_0035IMG_0037

I thought this cloud formation was neat.

    IMG_0047

Arriving in Texas was greener, here is Austin.

    IMG_0055IMG_0059

Houston was just as green as Austin. Clouds made it difficult to snap many photos.

Downtown, the Galleria, the Medical Center, and Astrodome are all visible in the distance.

This was so moving. I already love the Phantom of the Opera but watching the emotion from Kuha as he listened to this piece and then played it back was moving.

If you have ever had people look at you and scorn your appearance just because you look different then you will understand.

I have always loved the piano and hate that I never learned properly but that is my own fault but it doesn’t stop me from listening to beautiful music such as this.

Kenny introduced us to a new place to eat. A diner with chili that is almost as good as my dad’s. IMG_4175IMG_4174

As you can see the inside is like any little country diner. The countryside around it was nice, the day was sunny.

It was snowing last night but I was too enthralled by it to take a photo, I just walked around and tried to look into it. It is just as comfortable as looking into oncoming rain.

So, this morning I took photos. The tulips made a nice contrast compared to the usual trees and fence.

    IMG_4132IMG_4131

Flicka was having fun running around.

She did her share of licking the snow/ice.

I have reading to do. Fun!
